It was a surprise Christmas gift and he LOVED it. So much so, he has already read it 4 times and it has still not been put on the book shelf! He explained to me how much he has learned from the book and how it has sparked his interest even more. So much so we made our first ever author contact, to let him know personally how much it had been enjoyed, and a few further questions, to which Mr. Caine graciously answered. Simple to understand, explains well the characteristics of every phylla/class of animals. However, I would generally not recommend this book, as the complete lack of pictures and illustration makes this read less engaging, and does necessitate frequent referrals to Google.
